A Walled Medieval Town and Ginjinha in a Chocolate Cup
1 dayIdeal stay₹7,990From / night₹2,130Food / dayFreeEntry
A walled medieval town of whitewashed houses trimmed in blue and yellow, about an hour north of Lisbon by coach, once given by Portugal's kings to their queens: walk the ramparts (narrow and without railings), the Rua Direita and the Santa Maria church, and taste ginjinha, the sour-cherry liqueur, in a chocolate cup. Day-trippers fill it from late morning; stay a night for the empty lanes. Christmas brings the Óbidos Vila Natal fair. The Silver Coast's beaches (Foz do Arelho on the lagoon, Baleal and Peniche's surf) are 20-30 minutes away, and Nazaré 40.
