  • Paro

    Bhutan

Stay: up to 7 daysFee: noneChecked October 2026

How: No visa, but a free entry permit and the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of ₹1,200 per person per night (₹600 for children aged 6-12, none for 5 and under), which this plan's totals do not include. Apply online at immi.gov.bt about five working days ahead, or at Paro airport or the Phuentsholing immigration office when you arrive, and pay the SDF for every night.

The SDF for Indians is officially reviewable after two years; guides say ₹1,200 a night holds to 31 August 2027. Sources disagree on whether the entry permit runs 7 or 15 days and whether Indian visitors need a guide; confirm with immi.gov.bt or your operator before you go.

  • Central & the Peak

    Hong Kong

Stay: up to 14 daysFee: noneChecked October 2026

How: Before you fly, register online for the free Pre-arrival Registration (PAR) for Indian nationals on the Hong Kong Immigration Department website (immd.gov.hk). It must succeed before you travel; do it as soon as you book, so there is time to apply for a visa if it does not.

The registration is free: sites that charge for it are not the Immigration Department. It covers Hong Kong only: Macau and mainland China have their own entry rules, so check them before a side trip.

  • Almaty

    Kazakhstan

Stay: up to 14 daysFee: noneChecked October 2026

How: No visa for up to 14 days per visit: Indian passports enter Kazakhstan visa-free for tourism, business or private visits, as long as your stays add up to no more than 42 days in any 180 days. The days count from the moment you cross the border.

The 14-day visa-free stay for Indians dates from Government Decree No. 464 of July 2022 and was on the Foreign Ministry's April 2026 list; the e-visa for longer stays is described differently by different sources, so check with the Embassy of Kazakhstan before you book a trip over two weeks.

    Thailand

Stay: up to 30 daysFee: noneChecked October 2026

How: Within 72 hours before landing, fill in the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) at tdac.immigration.go.th. It is free; save the QR code it gives you. Do one card per traveller, children included.

India's visa-free stay was cut from 60 to 30 days from 15 September 2026, after a May 2026 plan to move Indians to a 15-day visa on arrival was reversed. Rules have changed three times this year, so confirm on the Royal Thai Embassy, New Delhi site before you fly. A 300-baht tourism fee for air arrivals is still proposed, not collected.

  • Kuta

    Indonesia

Stay: up to 30 daysFee: about ₹2,650Checked October 2026

How: Before you fly, buy the e-VOA (visa on arrival) at evisa.imigrasi.go.id: IDR 500,000, about ₹2,700, valid for 30 days. You can also pay at the visa-on-arrival counter in Bali or Jakarta, but the queue is long.

India is not on Indonesia's visa-free list, so you need the visa on arrival or e-VOA. India was proposed for visa-free entry in June 2026 but left off the July 2026 list. Indonesia proposed in August 2026 raising the fee to IDR 750,000 online and IDR 1,000,000 at the counter; as of October 2026 it is still IDR 500,000 with no start date, so check evisa.imigrasi.go.id before paying. Use only the .go.id sites: look-alike sites charge extra for the e-VOA, the arrival card and the Bali levy.

How: Within 96 hours before you land, fill in the free IMUGA traveller declaration at imuga.immigration.gov.mv (one per traveller) and save the QR code. Nothing is needed to leave: the departure declaration was dropped in August 2024.

Free for every nationality, but immigration can refuse entry without a booking at a registered place to stay: an Airbnb or a friend's address without one is not enough. Re-checked in October 2026 from news and guide summaries, as the official site could not be opened: confirm on immigration.gov.mv before you fly.

How: Within 72 hours before you fly, fill in the free Mauritius All-in-One Travel Form at safemauritius.govmu.org (one per traveller, children included) and keep its QR code on your phone and on paper: the airline may ask for it at boarding. Sites that charge for it are not the official one.

Most sources give 60 days; a few say 90, so plan on 60. A paid electronic travel authorisation for all visitors is proposed for 2027 but was not in force in October 2026. Checked from news and guide summaries, as the official sites could not be opened: confirm on passport.govmu.org before you fly.

There is no visa on arrival for Indian passports.

The official government fee is US$20 (urgent US$50); guides quote US$23-26 with service charges. Apply only on the official site, not on look-alike agency sites that charge several times more. Anyone who has visited Karabakh through Armenia is refused entry.

    Georgia

Stay: up to 30 daysFee: about ₹3,330Checked October 2026

How: Apply for the e-Visa at evisa.gov.ge at least two weeks before you fly: a US$20 fee plus a mandatory ~US$15 DuVerify identity check (finish it within 24 hours of getting the link), about US$35 (~₹3,400) in all, by Visa or Mastercard. It allows up to 30 days per entry and takes about 5-10 working days.

The list of foreign visas that let Indians in visa-free differs between sources (US, UK and Schengen are on all of them), and e-visa processing times vary; check evisa.gov.ge before you book, and apply early in the June-September peak.

Georgia: places, flights and every step
  • Tokyo

    Japan

Stay: up to 90 daysFee: about ₹1,300Checked October 2026

Indians need a visa for Japan, but it is cheap: ₹500, unchanged when Japan raised its visa fees five-fold for most countries in July 2026. JESTA, Japan's planned online travel authorisation, is for visa-free nationalities and is not due before 2028.

Japan: places, flights and every step
  • Nairobi

    Kenya

Stay: up to 90 daysFee: about ₹3,270Checked October 2026

How: At least 3 working days before you fly (you can apply up to 3 months ahead), apply for the Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) at etakenya.go.ke: passport photo page, a recent photo, your return ticket and hotel or safari booking. The fee is US$30 plus bank and processing charges (about US$34 in all), paid by card. Save the approval; airlines check it at boarding.

Kenya has no visa on arrival: without an approved eTA the airline will not board you. Kenya waived the eTA for most African nationals in 2025, not for Indians. Sources disagree on whether 90 days is the stay or the validity from approval, and on the processing charge: check the approval and the fee shown at etakenya.go.ke, and ignore look-alike sites.

It is still compulsory, and on-arrival visas may no longer be sold, so apply on eta.gov.lk before you fly. Tanzania has also published rules for a compulsory insurance on the mainland, reported to start on 1 October 2026; check before you fly whether you need it.

How: Book a Schengen visa appointment with VFS Global for Switzerland (Swiss Embassy, New Delhi, and its consulates) up to 6 months and at least 15 days before you travel; April to September slots go fast, so book 6-8 weeks ahead. Apply to Switzerland if it is where you spend the most nights.

The ₹ amounts follow the Swiss Embassy's April 2026 price list; confirm them, and the appointment wait, on the VFS Switzerland India site before you apply.
