• Private car, Car with driver / PickMe, per vehicle: Via Nuwara Eliya.
• Train, Car to Nanu Oya + hill-country train to Ella: Reserved seats (1st-class observation and 2nd reserved) go on sale 30 days ahead at eticket.railway.gov.lk and sell out within hours in season; 3rd class is unreserved and bought at the station on the day. Sit on the right-hand side towards Ella for the best views. No through train: the hill-country line beyond Kandy was cut by Cyclone Ditwah's landslides in November 2025, and in 2026 the scenic trains were reported starting at Nanu Oya. If through trains from Colombo and Kandy have resumed, they take about 9-10 h to Ella; check eticket.railway.gov.lk.
