Once you’re in Yellowstone National Park

• Best time: June – September
• Typical stay: 3 days
• November: Better avoided: From early November to late April Yellowstone's roads are closed to cars, except the north road from Gardiner past Mammoth to Cooke City; from mid-December to mid-March the interior is reached only on guided snowcoach or snowmobile tours, and most lodges and services are shut. Plan a visit for May to October, or book a winter snowcoach tour from West Yellowstone or Gardiner.
