Once you’re in Grossglockner High Alpine Road (Heiligenblut)
- Best time: June – September (the road is open early May to early November)
- Typical stay: 1 day
- November: Better avoided: The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is closed by snow from early November to early May (the dates move with the weather). Heiligenblut stays reachable from Lienz in winter as a ski village, but the road, the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe and the glacier view are not. For snow and a glacier in winter, go to the Kitzsteinhorn at Kaprun instead.
