When to go

Best time: May – June, September

Worth knowing

August: Spain on Holiday

August is when Spain takes its holidays: beaches, islands and coast towns are at their fullest and dearest, ferries to the Balearics and trains to the coast sell out, and in Madrid and other inland cities many family restaurants and small shops close for two or three weeks. Book rooms, ferries and trains months ahead, or come in June or September.

Worth knowing

Ibiza Out of Season: Clubs and Most Hotels Closed

From November to March Ibiza's superclubs, beach clubs and most resort hotels in San Antonio and Playa d'en Bossa are shut, many restaurants close and boats to the coves stop. Ibiza Town and Santa Eulària keep some hotels and restaurants open, the flights and the Formentera ferry run, and the island is quiet and green. For winter sun, the Canaries are warmer.

Heads up

Ibiza Peak Season Prices

In July and August Ibiza's rooms, flights, ferries, hire cars and club tickets reach their highest prices of the year and sell out. Book early, or come in June or September for warm seas at lower prices.
