United States / Alaska (summer) / Denali National ParkDenali National Park
North America's Highest Peak and Grizzly Country
Six million acres of tundra and taiga around Denali (6,190 m), visible on about one day in three. Private cars stop at Savage River (mile 15); beyond it the park road is travelled on the park's buses, looking for grizzlies, moose, caribou and Dall sheep. In 2026 the buses turned at East Fork (mile 43) while the new Pretty Rocks bridge was finished; it opened in September 2026 and full-road buses are planned again for 2027. The Alaska Railroad's Denali Star from Anchorage takes about 8 hours. A summer-only trip: buses, lodges and trains run from about mid-May to mid-September.
