The weather in August

What the season does to Chinatown & Little India this month.

Worth knowing

Haze Season

From about August to October, smoke from forest fires in Sumatra and Borneo can blanket Singapore. 2026 was the worst season since 2015: the PSI was unhealthy every day from 5 October. Check the PSI on haze.gov.sg or the myENV app each morning; above 100, keep outdoor time short (Gardens by the Bay's domes, malls and museums are indoors), and bring N95 masks for children, older travellers and anyone with asthma. The rains usually clear it by November.

Entry rules

E-visa before you fly for up to 30 days, about ₹3,100

  1. Apply for the Singapore e-Visa through an Authorised Visa Agent listed by the Singapore mission for your state (you cannot apply yourself): visa fee ₹2,100 plus the agent's fixed ₹1,000 service charge, about ₹3,100. Allow 3-5 working days; apply at least two weeks before you fly.
  2. Within 3 days before you land (the arrival day counts), fill in the free SG Arrival Card on the ICA website or the MyICA app, one per traveller. Sites that charge for it are not ICA.
  3. At immigration your stay is set on the visit pass you receive (usually up to 30 days). Keep the e-Pass email and leave before it ends.

Carry: Passport valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive, with blank pages; Singapore e-Visa (printout or PDF); SG Arrival Card acknowledgement; Confirmed return or onward ticket; Hotel bookings for the stay; Recent passport photo and bank statements, for the visa agent.

There is no visa on arrival for Indians, and only authorised agents may file the application; others charge extra. The fee rose to ₹2,100 on 1 January 2026; check the mission's page before you pay, as fees and agents change.

Checked 2026-10; confirm with the embassy before you fly.
