Lukla is flown only in clear weather: flights are delayed or cancelled for cloud and wind often, sometimes for days in a row, so keep two spare days before your flight home.
• Flight, Lukla–Ramechhap (Manthali) flight + 4-5 h jeep to or from Kathmandu; Namche is 2 days' walk from Lukla via Phakding (1 long day back down), in Namche's days: In the busy seasons most Lukla flights leave from Manthali airport in Ramechhap: a 4-5 hour drive from Kathmandu, usually leaving at 1-2 a.m. for the first flights; the flight is about 20 minutes. Lukla is flown only in clear weather: flights are delayed or cancelled for cloud and wind often, sometimes for days in a row, so keep two spare days before your flight home.
