Luxor to Aswan by train, road or ferry

• Train, Day train, Luxor–Aswan: Egyptian National Railways day trains; tickets at the station or online from Egyptian National Railways. Take 1st class air-con; the VIP and Talgo trains are the most comfortable.
• Private car, Car with driver / Uber, per vehicle: A driver can stop at Edfu and Kom Ombo temples on the way (about 2 hours more).
• Ferry, Nile cruise, 3 nights (Edfu and Kom Ombo stops), whole cruise: About US$60 (standard boat), US$130 (5-star) or US$250 (deluxe) a person per night in a shared cabin, full board, usually with guided visits to Edfu and Kom Ombo. 3 nights from Aswan to Luxor, 4 nights the other way. The boat is your hotel for those nights: shorten the hotel nights in Luxor and Aswan to match. Fewer boats sail in the summer heat.
• Ferry, Dahabiya (sailing boat), 4 nights, whole cruise: A small sailing boat with 6-12 cabins, usually Esna to Aswan with stops at quiet riverside temples and villages: about US$200-450 a person per night, full board. Most sail from October to April.
