- Train, Madaraka Express (SGR): About 5 h on the Express, 6 h on the stopping train, plus the ride to Syokimau and from Miritini, both outside town. Book at metickets.krc.co.ke (passport number needed) and arrive an hour early for screening. Children 3-11 pay half.
- Bus, Coach (Modern Coast, Dreamline, Tahmeed and others): Day and overnight departures; the train is faster and safer than the night bus on the busy Mombasa road.
