Baku in January
Mixed month: January is outside the recommended season (April – June, September – October). New Year holidays can fall this month. Nothing in our data flags January as a problem, but it isn't the season the place is best in.
The season opens in April, 3 months away.

Worth knowing
Land Borders Closed: Arrive and Leave by Air
Azerbaijan's land borders have been closed to travellers since 2020. Since May 2026 the train from Tbilisi runs again, but only Azerbaijani citizens and visa-free passports may enter on it, so anyone on an e-visa (Indians included) arrives by air at Baku; foreigners may leave by land. The border with Armenia is closed, and the US (Level 3, "Reconsider travel") and UK advise against the border areas with Armenia and Iran. A Georgia–Azerbaijan combination trip means flying one way.
