An Amphitheatre of Orange Hoodoos
Thousands of orange and white rock spires (hoodoos) packed into natural amphitheatres along a high plateau: Sunrise, Sunset, Inspiration and Bryce Points over the main amphitheatre, and the Navajo Loop and Queen's Garden trail down among them. At 2,400-2,700 m it is cool in summer and snowy in winter (the hoodoos under snow are a sight), and its dark skies make for superb stargazing. Non-US residents pay the US$100 surcharge from 2026. An hour and a half from Zion, four hours from Las Vegas.

Heads up
Snow at Bryce
At 2,400-2,700 m Bryce gets snow from December to March: the rim road is ploughed but trails into the amphitheatre can be icy (traction devices help), and nights fall well below freezing.
